After many days, Yahweh’s word came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain on the earth.”

ܘܐܙܠ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܡܬܚܙܝܘ ܠܐܚܒ ܘܟܦܢܐ ܥܫܢ ܒܫܡܪܝܢ

Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. The famine was severe in Samaria.

ܘܩܪܐ ܐܚܒ ܠܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܪܒܝܬܗ ܘܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܕܚܠ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܛܒ

Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Yahweh greatly;

ܘܟܕ ܩܛܠܬ ܐܝܙܒܠ ܠܢ̈ܒܝܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܒܪ ܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܡܐܐ ܢܒܝ̈ܝܢ ܘܛܫܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܡܥܪܬܐ ܘܬܪܣܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܠܚܡܐ ܘܒܡ̈ܝܐ

for when Jezebel cut off Yahweh’s prophets, Obadiah took one hundred prophets, and hid them fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܚܒ ܠܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܙܠ ܗܠܟ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܥܠ ܟܠ ܡܒ̈ܘܥܝ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܚ̈ܠܐ ܛܟ ܢܫܟܚ ܥܡܝܪܐ ܘܢܚܐ ܪܟܫܐ ܘܟܘܕܢ̈ܘܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܓܪܕܐ ܡܢ ܒܥܝܪܐ

Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land, to all the springs of water, and to all the brooks. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the animals.”

ܘܦܠܓܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܠܡܥܒܪ ܒܗ ܐܚܒ ܐܙܠ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܚܕܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܘܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܐܙܠ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ

So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it. Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

ܘܗܘܐ ܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܗܐ ܐܠܝܐ ܐܪܥܗ ܘܐܫܬܘܕܥܗ ܘܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܡܪܝ ܐܠܝܐ

As Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. He recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܙܠ ܐܡܪ ܠܡܪܟ ܕܗܐ ܐܠܝܐ
'ly' dh' lmrk 'mr zl lh w'mr hw 'n' lh 'mr
He answered him, “It is I. Go, tell your lord, ‘Behold, Elijah is here!’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܡܢܐ ܚܛܝܬ ܕܡܫܠܡ ܐܢܬ ܠܗ ܠܥܒܕܟ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܕܐܚܒ ܠܡܩܛܠܢܝ
lmqTlny d'khb b'ydh lebdk lh 'nth dmshlm khTyth mn' ewbdy' w'mr
He said, “How have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?

ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܥܡܐ ܐܘ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܫܕܪ ܡܪܝ ܠܡܒܥܝܟ ܬܡܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܝܬ ܘܐܘܡܝ ܠܡ̈ܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܠܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܢ ܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘܟ

As Yahweh your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. When they said, ‘He is not here,’ he took an oath of the kingdom and nation that they didn’t find you.

ܘܗܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܙܠ ܐܡܪ ܠܡܪܟ ܕܗܐ ܐܠܝܐ

Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here.”’

ܘܟܕ ܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܡܢ ܠܘܬܟ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܬܫܩܠܟ ܘܬܘܒܠܟ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܕܥ ܘܐܙܠ ܠܡܚܘܝܘ ܠܐܚܒ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܟܚܟ ܘܢܩܛܠܢܝ ܘܥܒܕܟ ܕܚܠ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܗ
Tlywthh mn mry' mn dkhl webdk wnqTlny nshkkhk wl' l'khb lmkhwyw w'zl 'de dl' l'yk' wthwblk thshqlk dmry' rwkhh lwthk mn 'zl 'n' wkd
It will happen, as soon as I leave you, that Yahweh’s Spirit will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.

ܘܠܐ ܚܘܝܬ ܠܡܪܝ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕܬ ܟܕ ܩܛܠܬ ܐܝܙܒܠ ܠܢܒ̈ܝܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܒܪܬ ܡܢ ܢܒ̈ܝܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܐܐ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܛܫܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܡܥܪܬܐ ܘܬܪܣܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܠܚܡܐ ܘܒܡ̈ܝܐ

Wasn’t it told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed Yahweh’s prophets, how I hid one hundred men of Yahweh’s prophets with fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

ܘܗܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܙܠ ܐܡܪ ܠܡܪܟ ܕܗܐ ܐܠܝܐ ܘܢܩܛܠܢܝ

Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here”.’ He will kill me.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܕܩܡܬ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܐܠܐ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܐܬܚܙܐ ܠܗ
lh 'thkhz' ywmn' 'l' qdmwhy dqmth khylthn' mry' hw khy 'ly' w'mr
Elijah said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.”

ܘܐܙܠ ܥܘܒܕܝܐ ܠܐܘܪܥܗ ܕܐܚܒ ܘܚܘܝܗ ܠܐܚܒ ܘܐܬܐ ܐܚܒ ܠܐܘܪܥܗ ܕܐܠܝܐ
d'ly' l'wreh 'khb w'th' l'khb wkhwyh d'khb l'wreh ewbdy' w'zl
So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

ܘܟܕ ܚܙܝܗܝ ܐܚܒ ܠܐܠܝܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܗܢܐ ܕܠܘܚܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ

When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܠܝܐ. ܠܐ ܕܠܚܬ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܠܐ ܐܢܬ ܘܒܝܬ ܐܒܘܟ ܕܫܒܩܬܘܢ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܙܠܬܘܢ ܒܬܪ ܒܥܠܐ
bel' bthr w'zlthwn dmry' pwqdnwhy dshbqthwn 'bwk wbyth 'nth 'l' l'ysryl dlkhth l' 'ly' lh 'mr
He answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house, in that you have forsaken Yahweh’s commandments and you have followed the Baals.

ܘܗܫܐ ܫܕܪ ܟܢܫ ܠܝ ܠܟܘܠܗ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܕܟܪܡܠܐ ܘܠܢܒ̈ܝܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܐܪܒܥܡܐܐ ܘܚܡܫܝܢ ܘܠܢܒܝ̈ܝ ܕܚ̈ܠܬܐ ܐܪܒܥܡܐܐ ܘܚܡܫܝܢ ܕܐܟܠܝܢ ܦܬܘܪܗ ܕܐܝܙܒܠ

Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

ܘܫܕܪ ܐܚܒ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܟܢܫ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܕܟܪܡܠܐ

So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to Mount Carmel.

ܘܩܪܒ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܘܬ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܡܬܝ ܦܠܝܓܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܦܠܓܘܢ ܐܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܙܠܘ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܐܢ ܒܥܠܐ ܗܘ ܙܠܘ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܠܐ ܝܗܒܘ ܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܦܬܓܡܐ

Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If Yahweh is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܒܠܚܘܕܝ ܐܫܬܚܪܬ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܒܝ̈ܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܡܐܐ ܘܚܡܫܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ
gbryn wkhmshyn 'rbem'' bel' wnbyy lmry' nby' 'shthkhrth blkhwdy hw 'n' 'ly' w'mr
Then Elijah said to the people, “I, even I only, am left as a prophet of Yahweh; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred fifty men.

ܢܬܠܘܢ ܠܢ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܬܘܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܢܓܒܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܕ ܬܘܪܐ ܘܢܦܫܚܘܢ ܘܢܣܝܡܘܢ ܥܠ ܩܝܣ̈ܐ ܘܢܘܪܐ ܠܐ ܢܣܝܡܘܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܚܕ ܬܘܪܐ ܘܐܦܫܚ ܘܐܣܝܡ ܥܠ ܩܝܣ̈ܐ ܘܢܘܪܐ ܠܐ ܐܣܝܡ
'sym l' wnwr' qys' el w'sym w'pshkh thwr' khd 'ebd w'n' nsymwn l' wnwr' qys' el wnsymwn wnpshkhwn thwr' khd lhwn wngbwn thwryn thryn ln nthlwn
Let them therefore give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bull, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under it.

ܘܩܪܘ ܒܫܡ ܐ̈ܠܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܩܪܐ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܝ ܘܐܝܢܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܥܢܐ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܥܢܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܡܪܬ
'mrth shpyr w'mrw em' klh wenw 'lh' hw hw bnwr' den' 'lh' w'yn' 'lhy dmry' bshmh 'qr' w'n' 'lhykwn bshm wqrw
You call on the name of your god, and I will call on Yahweh’s name. The God who answers by fire, let him be God.” All the people answered, “What you say is good.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܢܒ̈ܝܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܓܒܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܚܕ ܬܘܪܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܩܕܡܝܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܝܢ.
sgy'yn d'nthwn mTl qdmyth webdw thwr' khd lkwn gbw bel' lnbyy 'ly' w'mr
Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves, and dress it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”

ܘܢܣܒܘܗܝ ܠܬܘܪܐ ܕܐܬܝܗܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܘܗܘܘ ܩܪܝܢ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܒܥܠܐ ܡܢ ܨܦܪܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܛܗܪܐ ܒܥܠܐ ܥܢܝܢ ܘܠܝܬ ܩܠ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܕܥܢܐ ܘܐܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܠ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܕܥܒܕܘ

They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, “Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

ܘܟܕ ܗܘܐ ܛܗܪܐ ܡܓܚܟ ܒܗܘܢ ܐܠܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܩܪܘ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܪܢܝܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܨܒܘ ܣܥܪ ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܕܡܟ ܗܘ ܘܢܬܬܥܝܪ

At noon, Elijah mocked them, and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is deep in thought, or he has gone somewhere, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps and must be awakened.”

ܘܩܪܘ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܘܐܬܟܬܫܘ ܐܝܟ ܢܡܘܣܗܘܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܘܒܪ̈ܘܡܚܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܐܬܐܫܕ ܕܡܗܘܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ

They cried aloud, and cut themselves in their way with knives and lances until the blood gushed out on them.

ܘܟܕ ܥܒܪ ܛܗܪܐ ܗܘܘ ܡܬܢܒܝܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܙܒܢܐ ܕܣܠܩ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܩܠ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܕܥܢܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܕܨܐܬ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܢܒܝ̈ܝ ܕܚ̈ܠܬܐ ܫܢܘ ܡܢ ܗܫܐ ܘܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܝܩ̈ܕܝ ܫ̈ܠܡܐ ܘܫܢܝܘ ܘܐܙܠܘ

When midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the evening offering; but there was no voice, no answer, and nobody paid attention.

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܩܪܘܒܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܩܪ̈ܒܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܬܪܣܝ ܡܕܒܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܡܣܚܦ ܗܘܐ
hw' dmskhp dmry' mdbkhh wthrsy lwthh em' klh wqrbw lwthy qrwbw em' lklh 'ly' w'mr
Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me!”; and all the people came near to him. He repaired Yahweh’s altar that had been thrown down.

ܘܢܣܒ ܐܠܝܐ ܬܪ̈ܬܥܣܪܐ ܟܐ̈ܦܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܫ̈ܒܛܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܗܘ ܕܗܘܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܢܗܘܐ ܫܡܟ

Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom Yahweh’s word came, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”

ܘܒܢܐ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܠܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܒܕ ܚܐܪܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܒܝܬ ܣܐܬܝܢ ܙܪܥܐ ܘܐܟܪܟܗ ܠܡܕܒܚܐ
lmdbkh' w'krkh zre' s'thyn byth 'yk kh'ryth' webd dmry' bshmh mdbkh' lk'p' 'nyn wbn'
With the stones he built an altar in Yahweh’s name. He made a trench around the altar large enough to contain two seahs of seed.

ܘܟܫܐ ܩܝ̈ܣܐ ܘܦܫܚܗ ܠܬܘܪܐ ܘܣܡܗ ܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܩܝ̈ܣܐ

He put the wood in order, and cut the bull in pieces and laid it on the wood. He said, “Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܘ ܐܪ̈ܒܥ ܩܘܠܝܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܣܘܟܘ ܥܠ ܥܠܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܩܝ̈ܣܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܬܢܘ ܘܬܢܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܬܠܬܘ ܘܬܠܬܘ

He said, “Do it a second time;” and they did it the second time. He said, “Do it a third time;” and they did it the third time.

ܘܗܠܟܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܚܕܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܡܕܒܚܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܗ ܠܚܐܪܝܬܐ ܡܠܐܘܗ ܡ̈ܝܐ

The water ran around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.

ܘܟܕ ܣܠܩ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܩܪܒ ܐܠܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܘܕܐܝܣܚܩ ܘܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܢܬܝܕܥ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܢܐ ܥܒܕܟ ܘܒܦܬܓܡܟ ܥܒܕܬ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ

At the time of the evening offering, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.

ܥܢܝܢܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܢܝܢܝ ܘܢܕܥܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܢܬ ܐܦܢܝܬ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܗܦܝܟܐ
hpyk' lbhwn 'pnyth w'nth 'lh' mry' hw d'nth hn' em' klh wndewn enyny mry' enyny
Hear me, Yahweh, hear me, that this people may know that you, Yahweh, are God, and that you have turned their heart back again.”

ܘܢܦܠܬ ܢܘܪܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܟܠܬ ܥܠܬܐ ܘܩܝ̈ܣܐ ܘܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܘܥܦܪܐ ܘܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܒܚܐܪܝܬܐ ܠܚܟܬ

Then Yahweh’s fire fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

ܘܚܙܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܢܦܠܘ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ

When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. They said, “Yahweh, he is God! Yahweh, he is God!”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܠܝܐ ܐܚܘܕܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܢܒܝ̈ܝ ܒܥܠܐ ܘܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܢܬܦܠܛ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܘܐܚܕܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܚܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܢܚܠܐ ܕܩܝܫܘܢ ܘܢܟܣ ܐܢܘܢ ܬܡܢ

Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Don’t let one of them escape!” They seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and killed them there.

Elijah said to Ahab, “Get up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”

ܘܣܠܩ ܐܚܒ ܠܡܠܥܣ ܘܠܡܫܬܐ ܘܐܠܝܐ ܣܠܩ ܠܪܝܫ ܟܪܡܠܐ ܘܐܬܓܗܢ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܣܡ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܒܝܬ ܒܘܪ̈ܟܘܗܝ

So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down on the earth, and put his face between his knees.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܗ ܣܩ ܚܘܪ ܠܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܘܣܠܩ ܘܚܪ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝܬ ܡܕܡ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܦܘܟ ܫܒܥ ܙܒ̈ܢܝܢ

He said to his servant, “Go up now and look toward the sea.” He went up and looked, then said, “There is nothing.” He said, “Go again” seven times.

ܘܒܙܒܢܬܐ ܫܒܝܥܝܬܐ ܐܡܪ ܚܙܝܬ ܘܗܐ ܥܢܢܐ ܙܥܘܪܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܦܣܬܐ ܕܐܝܕܐ ܣܠܩܐ ܡܢ ܝܡܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܣܩ ܐܡܪ ܠܐܚܒ ܪܟܒ ܘܚܘܬ ܥܕܠܐ ܢܟܠܝܟ ܡܛܪܐ

On the seventh time, he said, “Behold, a small cloud, like a man’s hand, is rising out of the sea.” He said, “Go up, tell Ahab, ‘Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn’t stop you.’”

In a little while, the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

ܘܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܥܠ ܐܠܝܐ ܘܐܣܪ ܚܨ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܪܗܛ ܩܕܡ ܐܚܒ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܥܠ ܠܐܝܙܪܥܝܠ

Yahweh’s hand was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
